I am a Coca Cola addict and these wings are the perfect excuse to get more cola into my system. They are sticky and sweet. The meat offers no resistance in leaving the bones because it has been slow cooked for hours. Even the cartilage melts in your mouth.
1 kilo of chicken wings
200ml Coca cola
3 cloves of garlic, grated
1 large red onion, grated
1 cup of brown sugar
2 tablespoons of soy sauce
A pinch of salt
A pinch of freshly ground black pepper
Juice of one lime
Preheat the oven to 140C or 284F
Arrange the chicken wings in a single layer in a deep oven tray.
Combine the Coca cola, garlic, onion, sugar, soy sauce, salt, pepper and lime juice in a bowl.
Pour the mixture over the wings and bake for 3 hours. The wings will be very sticky.
If you like, you can reduce in a pan the remaining liquid from the wings until it becomes a syrup. You can use
this syrup to brush the wings before serving to make them extra glossy.
