C stands for Celsius as the whole menu is divided by the temperature it is cooked at. From rare and cold, to low temperature, steamed and grilled/tempura. The menu is very well priced. You can have a 4 course dinner for 45 euros. During lunch time, they do offer some of the same dishes as the dinner menu. The service was quick, and our waiter was very attentive and really took the time in explaining us the concept and the dishes. I went there for lunch last Wednesday with my husband. Since we already knew what we wanted to order, we chose to go à la carte. I love steak tartare so I had to order one, this one had artichoke and boquerone. The balance of flavors was delightful.

Then we had the open sandwich with smoked mackerel which was really good and quite big too.

After that, we had the pork belly with hoisin which was cooked at 75C, served with pak choy and peanuts. This was melt in your mouth goodness.

This was followed by the lobster with gnocchi, basil, Parmesan crisps and lobster bisque foam. The lobster was juicy and tender and the gnocchi were little pillows of deliciousness.

I had heard of their lunch burger before, so I had to try it as well. It was really good. Luckily we were sharing everything between the two of us because by that time I was getting full.

Even though in my case, there is always space for dessert. And it was a great way to end this lunch. The chocolate mousse was beautifully plated. It had coffee gel, lemon cream, macadamia crumble, basil sponge and basil ice cream. I love basil in desserts and this one was very well balanced and delicious.

The restaurant is located in the Eastern part of Amsterdam, where the first Baut used to be. Very easy to reach by Metro or tram.

Westergasterras

Along with fellow food bloggers Girlslove2travel, Dishtails, Waar Amsterdam Eet, Polabur and Wanderlust, I went to try the Westergasterras’ new winter menu. This restaurant is located at the Westergasfabriek. Besides a great location, this restaurant is spacious, but cozy at the same time.

We started the evening with raw scallops in an oriental marinade served with wakame salad. I love scallops and I could have easily eaten another serving of this. The second course was a sort of open lasagna but with filo pastry and grilled vegetables. The crunchy filo gave it a light touch. This was followed by catfish wrapped in bacon served with barley and marinated vegetables. The meaty fish was delicious!

A tajine came next filled with couscous, a pumpkin stew, chickpeas and raita.

The Westergasterras is also starting a new concept. Beginning in January, They will host the “Roast Of” every Thursday. They will roast a different kind of meat every week on their large terrace. We got to try the wild duck this time along with potato mash, roasted potatoes and carrots, sauerkraut and orange sausce.

And it wouldn’t be a complete meal without something sweet at the end. We munched on a tasting of different cakes from Sweet Love Addiction. The coconut one was my favorite!

The winter menu will be available starting from the 23rd of December and the “Roast of” every Thursday at 7pm starting in January.

Meat West

Meat West as the name suggests is a meat restaurant located in De Hallen in Amsterdam West. I love the industrial décor of the restaurant. I had a lovely dinner there yesterday with my husband. We had the chef’s 3 course menu. By the way, they do serve a vegetarian menu on request but I was really craving meat. The service was very good and fast, and our waitress was very attentive.

We started the evening with some duck breast, bulgur and veggies.

This was followed by a juicy and tender piece of beef with sweet potato puree, truffle chips and a rosemary jus.

We finished with a chocolate ganache with mango sorbet and a passion fruit crème. Overall it was a delicious evening.
