About me

Welcome to Cravings in Amsterdam!

My name is Paola. I am a freelance recipe developer, food/lifestyle photographer and food stylist.

I am from Lima, Peru and currently live in Amsterdam with my husband and 2 cats (Mandu & Nip). I have moved around a bit since my childhood. I’ve lived in the U.S., France, Venezuela, and love brought me to the Netherlands.

As long as I can remember my life has revolved around food. I love recipes that evoke memories. From helping my mom cook, watching cooking shows, to finally embarking on a mini culinary adventure on my own. Right after I finished hospitality management, I moved to Lyon for four months to take a cooking course at L’Institut Paul Bocuse. Those months were a feast for my taste buds.

This blog started as a way to share my cravings. My husband always jokes that I might be pregnant because I’m always craving something very specific. If that were the case, it has been a 30 year long pregnancy.

The recipes I share are easy to make, some very healthy and some more indulgent. For me it’s about balance and what’s life without some cake?

You can follow me on Instagram @cravingsinamsterdam for some sneak peeks of recipes to come. Do you mean the ones filled with fruit that I had for breakfast? Those are just chopped fruit rolled into rice paper rolls, the same ones you use fort he savory version. And for the sauce, just placed in the pan the juice of 1 orange, 3 passion fruit and coconut sugar to taste and reduced it for a few minutes over medium heat.
